Types of Macaws
there are 17 different types of macaws, each with its own unique needs and quirks. The ten most popular Macaw Parrot species are:

Blue-and-yellow macaw: Their sociability and even sweet disposition make blue and gold macaws a great pet. Their intelligence, willingness to learn, and talking ability are a plus. Around the house, these macaws may act like friendly dogs. They enjoy being near their owners and seek out attention.

Scarlet macaw: Scarlet macaws that have been hand-raised or hand-trained can be very affectionate. They make great companions with a sweet disposition. In the wild, scarlet macaws live in small flocks. If you keep this bird as a lone pet, you become its flockmate and form a strong bond.

Green-Wing Macaw: The Green Wing Macaw is one of the more popular species of parrot in the pet trade due to their personalities. The Green Wing is known to be a friendly and confiding bird, greatly relishing human contact. Most birds quickly build up a strong bond with their owner which can make them tremendously appealing pets.

Hahn’s Macaw: Hahn’s macaws are the smallest and the most popular among the miniature macaws. These compact and playful parrots make excellent pets that form solid bonds with their owners. Capable of learning many tricks and behaviors, they can become good talkers with practice.

Military macaw:  Military macaws are large parrots that have a reputation for being pleasant, even-tempered pet birds. Ideally, if it is hand-fed from birth, it can form a strong bond with its owners. These curious birds look forward to interacting with their human “flock.”

Blue-throated macaw:
Blue-throated macaws are very inquisitive, mischievous, animated, and love to chew. Macaws can make excellent pets, although some have a tendency to become nippy. Macaws can be very loud as well as destructive. While some speak, most macaws have limited ability to mimic.

Red-fronted macaw: Red-fronted macaws are very inquisitive, mischievous, and animated. While they don’t enjoy handling as much as a blue & gold, they are delightful pets because of their outgoing personalities. Red-fronted macaws (Ara rubrogeneys) have a tiny range on the eastern Andean slope of southern Bolivia.

Blue-headed macaws:

Blue-headed macaws (Ara couloni) are a blue-gray color. The beak is pale. The facial skin is grey and the eyes are bright yellows with red rings around the iris. The tail is long and tapered and is blue and green. Mini macaws are lively boisterous birds and require generous living space. Blue-headed macaws can live up to 30 to 40 years.

Macaws are playful and love to chew. They should always be provided with toys, especially wooden blocks that can be chewed, and branches from non-toxic trees.

Severe Macaws: Severe macaws can be fun pets, but they require time and specialized care that not everyone can provide. On the other hand, they thrive on family time because it replicates the feeling of a flock, and, unlike some other parrots, they don’t tend to become strictly one-person birds.

Illigers Macaws: Illiger’s macaws are playful, friendly birds that enjoy human interaction. When handfed as babies and raised in loving, attentive homes, these intelligent birds will bond strongly with their owners. The connection can be so strong that the bird will mimic its owner’s emotions.

Hybrid Macaws: Hybrid Macaws are bred for their amazing coloring. They can be very attractive but keep in mind, they are still Macaws. As a Macaw owner you will reap many fine benefits. All Macaws are extremely beautiful, but temperaments and behavior will vary from one bird to the next, and they do require good socialization.
